What is nitcography
Thread painting is the technique of drawing with threads. It makes it possible to create unusual drawings and even entire paintings without the help of brushes and paints. For this activity you need wool threads and glue.
There are several ways to create this type of drawing. Threads soaked in paint are passed over paper, they are used to fill various parts of the appliqué, or they are used to make stamps.
The technique of thread printing came to us from Mexico. Masters created real masterpieces using only thick woolen threads. They impregnated them with a special mixture made from pine resin and wax.
Creating paintings using thread that has been dipped in paint (usually gouache) is called thread painting. This is one of the types of nitcography. It differs in that it does not require the use of glue.
This kind of “drawing” promotes the development of motor skills in children, so it is practiced in kindergarten in middle and senior groups among pupils 4-6 years old. According to experts, nitography helps develop abstract thinking and helps achieve beautiful handwriting when studying at school.
Examples of paintings (nitcography)
This is a painting using the nitcography technique called “Autumn Tree” . First, draw a graphic image, then cover the outline with black thread and fill in the elements with colored yarn.
It is important to learn how to correctly form the background of the image. You can alternate the threads and glue them horizontally or vertically. As an option: cut the blue threads very short (almost into dust) and glue them to the base in a chaotic manner.
And this is a work called “The Wise Owl” . A clear image, straight lines and a solid background - a magnificent picture. Due to the fact that threads of the same thickness are used in the work, the image comes out smooth and perfect.
Crafts made using the nitcography technique look simply amazing. Small paintings can be made quickly, but for a panel measuring 30 x 40 cm you will have to spend more than one week. But the result will be much more interesting.”

November 5, 2015 at 6:09 amAs it is now called, nitkografiya. It’s a tricky name; when we were kids, during labor lessons, the teacher told us about drawing with threads, although colored wool was in short supply, they painted with regular wool and then tinted it with paints, and they only had silicate stationery glue, leaving stains from the glue.
