GCD on drawing for children of the senior group “The city in which we live!”

Cityscape in pencil

This version of the pencil sketch has more detail, so it requires a more careful approach.

The picture will show a city street with a slight bend and a narrow sidewalk between buildings.

Step-by-step master class.

  1. First of all, you need to put good markings on a sheet of paper. It is necessary to draw two horizontal lines above and below the middle of the sheet. Then draw two lines on the left side of the sheet, indicating the facades of houses going into the distance. On the right side, mark the foundations of the houses. From above, mark the roof of the corner house with a zigzag.
  2. Use vertical segments to outline the walls of the objects, mark a doorway on the facade of one of them.
  3. Draw the roofs of buildings in detail, taking into account perspective.
  4. Use double segments to mark the edges of the sidewalks. They may converge and diverge a little. This technique allows you to add volume to your sketch.
  5. Work out the roofs and mark a small canopy at the front of the house on the right side, marking the entrance to the room.
  6. Draw a low tree on the left side.
  7. On the right side of the street, near the canopy, you need to depict a couple of tables and chairs of a summer cafe. Design the entrance to the cafe and the canopy.
  8. In a pencil sketch, small details are very important. Therefore, it is necessary to carefully depict building facades, balconies, windows and doors.
  9. The sketch can be supplemented with an image of a person, a cat, a flowerpot, or a lamppost. Windows in buildings located at an angle to the viewer are drawn with a slight bevel. Window openings in a house facing the viewer are square or rectangular in shape.
  10. Having removed the extra lines, the drawing must be shaded, working out the shadows.

You can take the instructions as a basis and depict your own street landscape.

A similar drawing can be colored with pencils, paints or felt-tip pens.

Straight street

This master class will help even novice artists draw a straight street.

To work you need to prepare:

  • drawing paper,
  • pencil.

Sequence of work.

  1. The first thing you need to do is decide on the perspective and perform rough markings. In this case, the sketch will be in frontal perspective. The first will be a horizontal strip just below the middle of the landscape sheet.
  2. Mark the middle of this strip with a vanishing point.
  3. Draw two vertical lines parallel to the edges of the sheet.
  4. Draw diagonals through the vanishing mark from these lines.
  5. Draw the facades of buildings using vertical segments.
  6. The side walls of the objects are made using horizontal lines.
  7. From the exit mark, draw the boundaries of the resulting road in the drawing. It is important to take into account that the width of the sidewalk gradually disappears. The closer to the viewer, the wider the pedestrian and carriageway part of the road.
  8. Mark the middle of the bottom edge of the album sheet with two marks at a short distance from each other. Guide them to the vanishing point. This is the axial marking of the roadway.
  9. Draw a border.
  10. Mark the outlines of windows on the facades of buildings.
  11. If desired, you can “add” one more floor to one of the houses by drawing an additional line on top of the buildings at the vanishing point.
  12. To depict an ancient facade, draw two diagonals above one of the houses. Through the place where they intersect, draw a line a couple of centimeters above the building, connecting the top with the corners of the house. Draw the roof.
  13. Draw a window on this facade.
  14. It is more convenient to start depicting trees growing along the sidewalk by drawing segments going into the distance. The space between them is conventionally divided into squares. Green spaces are drawn in them, working out the branches and leaves in detail.
  15. Using the same principle, it’s easy to draw lanterns along a boulevard or bench.
  16. An important point in creating such a pencil sketch is shading. It helps to emphasize details and give the drawing the necessary volume.
  17. Window openings and walls of houses need to be highlighted a little.
  18. Using an eraser, remove all rough markings.
  19. Work out the picture in detail, highlighting the pillars, tree crowns, and the shadows that fall from them on the asphalt.
  20. The roadway is barely noticeable.
  21. The sidewalk adds shadows from houses on one side of the street.

If you wish and have certain skills, you can, by thickening the shading, depict an evening landscape, shading the glare of lanterns on the asphalt. Experienced artists can bring a sketch to life by adding adults and children to the drawing.

Following these instructions, any novice artist can easily depict part of the street in frontal perspective.

City crossroads

You can get a completely different picture by making two vanishing marks along the edges of the sketch.

Step-by-step master class.

  1. On both sides of the sheet, mark the middle with dots.
  2. Mark the middle of the sheet at the top and bottom with dots, stepping back a small distance from the edge.
  3. Connect the dots with light lines.
  4. The protruding corner in the middle of the sheet is the corner of the building in the foreground. It must be highlighted with vertical segments.
  5. Stepping back a little from the first object, mark the walls of the following buildings. Their roofs will be slightly lower than those in the foreground. The outlines of the roofs are drawn to the vanishing points.
  6. Objects can be depicted at different heights.
  7. Architectural elements are outlined and drawn on the facades.
  8. Stepping back a little from the foundation of the central building, mark the location of the sidewalk. Connect the label to the vanishing points and select the edge of the sidewalk.
  9. Erase unnecessary marking details.
  10. Draw details of building facades and do shading.
  11. Use darker shading to mark the side walls of buildings, creating a shadow from neighboring buildings.
  12. In the distance, the shading will also be slightly darker than in the foreground.

If desired, the drawing can be supplemented with the image of trees or lanterns. Building facades can easily be supplemented with store signs.

You can practice preliminary marking of a sketch by taking templates of brochures from children's coloring books as a model.
