Love for the Fatherland and love for people are two fast streams that, merging, form a mighty river of patriotism. V. A. Sukhomlinsky

One of the most pressing problems today is the patriotic education of the younger generation.

The content of the Federal State Educational Standard clearly shows the need to intensify the patriotic education of preschoolers.

During this period of life, the images of the child are very vivid and remain in memory for a long time, and sometimes for a lifetime. Therefore, we, adults, are increasingly thinking about the patriotic education of our children. The difficult political situation and a number of other factors force us to do this. But how to do it correctly, but at the same time easily?

Let's figure it out. Can feelings of patriotism arise in a preschooler?

Of course they can. This is a feeling of love for your family, hometown, region, native nature.

Preschool age is the foundation for raising a child as an individual. It is during this period that it is worth taking care of patriotic education. Patriotic education is the basis for the formation of a future citizen. It is necessary to “lay” in the child moral foundations regarding love for his “small” and “big” Motherland, the basics of behavior in society and in communicating with people. After all, the main goal is to raise a worthy citizen of his fatherland.

The task of instilling patriotism is very difficult. To achieve the desired result, it is necessary to find extraordinary methods of influencing the child, his moral and emotional spheres. Moreover, such methods should not seem boring or too edifying to the child. It is necessary that such methods arouse interest and curiosity in children. They should naturally and harmoniously fill the child’s worldview with moral content and reveal to him previously inaccessible and incomprehensible areas of social life.

Already at such a young age, a child should know his country and how it differs from other countries. It is very important to tell children about the hometown where they live; foster a sense of pride in your place of residence. Teach your child to take care of what was created by grandparents, mothers and fathers. Maintain cleanliness in public places, participate in creating beauty in your yard, entrance, kindergarten, protect the nature of your native land and more.

Forms of education.

There are various forms of instilling patriotism in children.

These are conversations about the Motherland, the city in which the child lives, about the nature of the native land, about the great people of our fatherland. Reading children's books on patriotic themes, studying children's folklore of their native region, and memorizing poems and songs. And, of course, the personal example of parents.

Through studying the history and traditions of our ancestors, pride and respect for our native land is fostered.

An important role here is played by fairy tales, which are passed down from generation to generation and teach us kindness, mercy, mutual assistance, friendship and hard work.

Original folklore is the most faithful assistant in instilling patriotic feelings in preschool children, forming love and respect for the traditions of their homeland.

It is also worth introducing children to the traditions and cultures of other countries and peoples; form a friendly attitude towards them.

Children are characterized by restlessness, instability of attention, short-term interests and rapid fatigue. Therefore, patriotic education of preschool children involves repeated return to important topics in order to form a sustainable interest in them.

To reveal a particular topic, it is best to use the game process. (For example, you can play “travel” ; this way he will learn more about the traditions and customs of his homeland and other countries). Children have visual-figurative thinking. Therefore, when instilling patriotic feelings, parents should use bright pictures, illustrations from fiction and all kinds of visual examples.

Thus, visiting museums or specially equipped premises in kindergartens will help the child to clearly get acquainted with the life and foundations of his native land.

One of the manifestations of patriotism is love of nature. Caring for it is expressed in caring for animals and landscaping areas. When getting to know the nature of your native land, the emphasis is on its beauty and uniqueness. Walks in forests, parks, trips to rivers and lakes are necessary. Vivid impressions about the native nature, about the history of the native land, which the child received in childhood, will remain in memory forever and will help the child become a citizen and patriot of his country.

Education criteria:

The main criterion for good upbringing is family. All family members should set an example for the younger generation.

An equally important criterion for moral and patriotic education is a close relationship with parents. When a child touches the history and traditions of the family, it evokes strong emotions in him. Makes you empathize and attentive to the cultural values of your family. Communication with parents in this case contributes to caring for the traditions of one’s family and preserving family ties.

Recommendations for parents:

  • Raising a patriot begins with what is closest to the child - home, street, kindergarten.
  • Try to draw the child’s attention to the beauty of his native land.
  • While walking, tell us what is on your street; try to talk about the meaning of each object.
  • Personal example; Together with your child, take part in landscaping and cleaning your yard.
  • Teach your child self-assessment; correct assessment of one’s own actions and the actions of other people.
  • Encourage your child to strive to maintain order in public places.
  • Read books with your child about your homeland, its heroes, traditions and values.

To sow and cultivate in a child’s soul the seeds of love for the native nature, the culture and history of the country, home and family - this is the essence of patriotic education!
