Notes on drawing “A bear sleeps in a den”, in the senior group

Choosing a Bear to Draw

The beginning artist usually has little or no interest in the taxonomy of this species, but before you start painting, you need to decide what variety of this animal you really want to depict:

  • big or small bear;
  • with light or dark hair;
  • very or not very shaggy;
  • whether he will have a hump on his back;
  • what the muzzle will look like - in profile or full face.

This could be the classic Russian brown bear or its close relative the grizzly bear (North American brown bear), or the white polar bear. Although the panda is zoologically related to raccoons, in artistic classification it is also a bear.

With children it is better to start drawing a cartoon version of this animal or an Olympic bear. These painted pictures of a bear are perfect for kindergarten or school.

Drawing a bear - a fairy-tale character

To draw a teddy bear, prepare a sheet of paper and a pencil. Practice drawing before you begin your final drawing of the teddy bear. At the first stage, the head is drawn, then the front and hind legs and the stomach in the form of ovals of different shapes and sizes. Then the muzzle: nose, elements of the mouth, ears and their inner part.

Step-by-step drawing of a bear with a pencil

Start with the hardest pencil and after sketching, thicken its outlines. Try to pose the bear at this stage, naturally bending your legs to give the feeling of a step. As for the muzzle, you should try to give it a calm and good-natured expression; you should not immediately try to draw a grin.

When you quickly draw all the outlines and main details of the face, take a softer pencil and begin applying shades and shades using the chiaroscuro technique.

It is recommended to focus on a photo of a real bear, where the darkest spots on its fur are, and where there is more light. By drawing short lines more or less close to each other, try to follow the shape of the body, emphasizing the irregularities and muscles.

When the main features of the muzzle and the contours of the paws and ears are completed, you can start drawing small details such as eyes, nose, and then shading the fur.

If the bear is drawn as a cartoon or toy, then at this stage coloring is done with colored pencils. You can add more light to certain points of your bear, such as the back, by “removing” some of the graphite with an eraser.

When the bear is ready, you need to go around it with an elastic band, erasing any possible dirt and random pencil strokes. It is advisable to finish your work with a fixing spray.

How to draw a panda

To draw a panda with your child, you just need to add additional elements to the classic teddy bear drawing, such as dark outlines around the eyes and color it all in black and white.

Toy and real bears can be drawn standing or sitting; this is a great idea to spend free time with your child and develop his manual skills. Step-by-step instructions for beginners are designed to simplify the drawing process as much as possible and make it interesting and understandable.

Preparing to Draw

Since drawing a bear with a pencil of only one hardness will not work, you will first need good drawing pencils, at least three different types: one hard, one medium and one soft (usually starting at 2H and above, leaving the rest of the scale H only for those involved in technical drawing and graphics).

In addition to the pencil, you'll need drawing cardboard or paper, an eraser, a pencil sharpener, and a setting spray so that the drawing can last a long time when it's finished.

It is recommended to buy two different blocks of paper. Cheaper paper will be used for sketching and will therefore consist of quality sheets, but still thin. The second, with a higher density, is intended for the final pattern and therefore must have more weight.

If you plan to draw a bear with children, then it is better to use a sketchbook.

Drawing a plush Teddy

To draw a cute teddy bear, use a pencil to draw a round head shape (with a little fur on the top) and rounded ears on top.

Now detail the teddy bear drawing. Draw fingers on the bear's front paws and his belly. The front paws need to be shaped like a horseshoe. Draw the hind legs, usually just colored ovals. If desired, you can add panties or a bow.

It's time to color the teddy bear drawing. Our teddy bear is all shades of brown, with a lighter belly.
